Introduction to natural dyeing of wool with Margaux Newdigate

Using only natural dye materials, we will show participants how to dye wool to create vibrant natural colours. Each participant will be given 4 mini-skeins (approx 20g each) and have an opportunity to dye them in the workshop. We will share the preparation process involved (washing, skeining and mordanting), identify the equipment needed for participants to do this themselves, and share good sources of natural, local and usually no-cost dye materials which we can source from kitchen scraps, garden plants or foraging in the wild.

Wonderful Ways with Wool with Ani Laine 

Come join us on an inspirational wool journey, from sheep to beautiful products. We will start this Demo-Workshop with a raw Merino fleece and learn how to recognize quality and softness. Next we will hand process the raw wool to create a clean natural fire stack. Participants will receive samples of each step of the process to use in the workshop and to take home.

The cleaned wool will now be used to learn a variety of techniques with which different items will be made.
